Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of disability. Unfortunately, many strokes and aneurysms occur without any warning signs.  Women account for 61% of stroke deaths.  Aneurysms rarely pose any symptoms.  However, the mortality rate for ruptured aneurysms is 90 to 95%.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is any form of atherosclerosis, or plaque build-up, that occurs anywhere outside the heart.  An estimated 40% of people with coronary artery disease also have peripheral vascular disease.

The good news is if these risks can be identified, they can be treated.  If you have two or more of the following risk factors you should consider a Community Vascular Screening:

Three-part Non-invasive Community Screenings
You do not need a physician referral to schedule a Community Vascular screening.  (Not covered by most insurance).  The Community Vascular screening is $99 for all three screenings ordered at the same time, or $40 per individual screening.  The three screening tests are described below:

Carotid Artery/Stroke screening

Performed using doppler ultrasound on the carotid arteries in the neck to identify plaque build-up in the arteries.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening

This screening test uses doppler ultrasound on the abdomen to identify a developing aneurysm.

Peripheral Arterial Disease screening

This screening test uses a type of blood pressure cuff around the ankle (ankle brachial index) to assess possible blood flow problems in the legs.
